Artists Statement
Beauty isn't only in the eye of the beholder. It's in the heart of the beholder as well. I aim to create paintings that inspire a deeper appreciation of natural beauty.
The world seems like it's moving at an ever-faster pace. Spending time viewing nature can bring us back to a sense of serenity, a brief escape from the everyday stresses of life.
I paint romantic landscapes, gardens and florals that convey this sense of peace, beauty and serenity. I am interested in creating and sharing beautiful, romantic imagery in a fresh way. I often combine and contrast the softness, natural organic forms and flow of flowers and gardens with the structure and texture of manmade garden ornaments, urns, architectural accents, or statuary that add a touch of elegance and timelessness. Many of my paintings are inspired by my travels to beautiful place including Tuscany, the Lake Region of Northern Italy and Monet's Garden in France.
Whether it's being fascinated by the dramatic, exquisite and ever-changing skies and clouds, being uplifted by the beauty of vividly colored flowers or appreciating the patterns and colors of the lush countryside, I want it to feel as if you have been transported from the here and now, if even just for a few moments.
T
he essence of a subject is paramount, but I often go beyond appearances to further romanticize or idealize the subject. Using a direct approach in either oils or watercolor, colors are often mixed spontaneously for vibrant, fresh hues with a soft, impressionistic style. My intention is to take you away to a place of quiet reflection and joy.
About the Artist
Pat Fiorello is a professional artist who especially enjoys capturing the beauty and energy of nature in her vibrant oil and watercolor paintings. She is known for her romantic paintings of landscapes, gardens and florals.
Self taught at first, Pat later studied with noted artists, including Charles Reid, Mel Stabin, Betty Carr and Robert Johnson, to develop her talents and skills. In 2002, she left her V.P. marketing position with The Coca-Cola Company to pursue her passion for art and concentrate on painting full time. Now she teaches others to paint at the Spruill Center for the Arts in Atlanta and other places in the U. S., Caribbean and Europe.
Pat's family name "Fiorello" comes from an Italian lineage meaning "one who lives near a wall of flowers," so it's no accident that she is drawn to painting flowers and other scenes which capture the essence and beauty of nature.
Pat paints both in her home studio in Atlanta and on location. She has painted while traveling , including Tuscany & Lake Como in Italy, Provence & Monet's Garden in Giverny, France, Ireland, Bermuda, St. Thomas and the Canadian Rockies. Pat is a Signature Member of the Georgia Watercolor Society and a member of Oil Painters of America. Her work has been featured in over 70-juried shows, over a dozen "one woman" exhibits, including being the featured artist at the State Botanical Garden of Georgia and Callaway Gardens, and is in numerous private collections across the country. Her images have been licensed for greeting cards and home décor products. North Light Books recently published her work in Splash 11: The Best of Watercolor.
Pat has served as President of the Georgia Watercolor Society and Chairman of the Atlanta Artists Center.
