Painting Nature’s Essence
Beauty isn't only in the eye of the beholder. It's in the heart of the beholder as well. I aim to create paintings that inspire a deeper appreciation of natural beauty. The world seems like it’s moving at an ever-faster pace. Spending time viewing nature can bring us back to a sense of stillness, serenity and aliveness, a brief escape from the everyday stresses of life. I paint atmospheric landscapes and vibrant florals that convey this sense of peace, beauty and serenity. Whether it’s being fascinated by the dramatic, exquisite and ever-changing skies and clouds, being uplifted by the beauty of vividly colored flowers or appreciating the patterns and colors of the lush countryside, I want it to feel as if you have been transported from the here and now, if even just for a few moments. The essence of a subject is paramount, but I often go beyond appearances to further romanticize or idealize the subject. Using a direct approach in either oils or watercolor, colors are often mixed spontaneously for vibrant, fresh hues with a soft, impressionistic style. My intention is to take you away to a place of quiet reflection and joy.
About the Artist
Pat Fiorello is a professional artist who especially enjoys capturing the beauty and energy of nature in her brightly colored watercolor and oil paintings. Her primary subjects include landscape and garden scenes inspired by beautiful places with lush foliage and architectural accents.
After not painting since elementary school, Pat began to learn watercolor at the age of 35. She began teaching herself to paint and then took courses, workshops and private study with noted artists to further her artistic abilities and talent. Pat has taught watercolor classes since 1998 and is a popular and sought after workshop leader. Having learned to paint as an adult herself, she has a strong conviction that anyone can learn to paint and is a patient, passionate and encouraging instructor.
After a successful 20 year corporate career, including executive positions at The Coca-Cola Company and Nabisco, Pat committed to pursue her passion for painting and became a full time artist.
Pat’s family name “Fiorello” comes from an Italian lineage meaning “one who lives near a wall of flowers”, so it’s no accident that she is drawn to painting scenes which capture the essence and beauty of nature.
Pat paints in her studio in Atlanta, Georgia and on location. She has painted while traveling including Tuscany, Lake Como and other areas in Italy, Bermuda, Provence, Ireland and the mountains of North Carolina and Georgia. Pat is a Signature Member of the Georgia Watercolor Society. Her work has been featured in over 60 juried shows and she has had over a dozen "one woman" exhibits. Pat recently was the featured artist at the State Botanical Garden of Georgia where 40 of her paintings were on display as a solo exhibition at the Visitors Center. Pat also teaches art classes and workshops in the U.S., Caribbean and Europe and has licensed her images for greeting cards and home decor products. She is active in the arts community and has served as Chairman of the Board of the Atlanta Artists Center and President of the Georgia Watercolor Society.
